PACT med Therapy

Fungal nail infection, or onychomycosis, is a condition where a fungus infiltrates the nail bed and plate. This causes brittle, crumbly and discoloured nails. Often, the main problem is cosmetic in nature due to the change in appearance.

A fungal infection is often stubborn to treat. Oral drugs are the most effective but can potentially cause severe side effects. Topical treatments carry less side effects, however they’re much less effective and can take up to 12 months of continuous application to see results.

How it works

PACT®, or photodynamic antimicrobial therapy, is a treatment that uses a combination of a photosensitizer and a light source. The photosensitizer gel is applied to the affected nails and exposed to a light. The light

interacts with the gel to produce a photochemical reaction which targets infected tissue in and around the nail. This effectively kills the fungus, leaving your nails looking good and free of infection.

The recommended treatment is 3 consecutive sessions within 1 week, followed by a review 4 weeks later. During this time, we recommend you file the nail and apply our topical antifungal compound mixture. This ensures any fungal spores are targeted and killed which delivers the best results.

PACT Fungal Laser Therapy is effective and non-invasive. No systemic side-effects have been reported.
